Hunger strikes is a historical tool for power & popularity since MD KC Gandhi era. In Indian history late Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi commonly used name was Mahatma Gandhi used this tool for freedom in India. Since that era of 1920,30, 40 & 50, it was very popular for creating pressure on English Govt. & rule in India. Last time since 16.08.11 Anna Hajare used this tool for creating pressure & getting popularity against formation of Lokpal bill against corruption from top to bottom. Now CM of Gujrat Narendra Modi on 3days hunger strike since 17.09.11 to 19.09.11 on goodwill mission & getting popularity. Of course he is not only a good ruler, but also very sensitive & having development & welfare oriented mentality, 2nd coincide, most of time hunger strikers, strikes for creating pressure on Govt. While it is different, in this case Modi is CM of Guj. State, he himself is on strike for creating & showing sensitivity towards welfare of all beyond Hindu & Muslims, and fasting for victims of and what was wrong in Gujrat riots in 2002.
